Eric “Bubba” Nascimento Jr., of Manteca, rolled to a fairly uneventful victory in the 50-lap Stockton Late Model feature at the 99 Speedway on Saturday night, July 11.

Stockton’s Ty Carlson finished the race in second place and Sam Solari, the 2018 track champion out of Escalon, rounded out the top three.

Nascimento had also taken the checkered flag in the Ron Strmiska Memorial Fourth of July race on the previous Saturday after getting into the back of Solari’s car on the penultimate lap to take over the race lead.

However, after the race track officials ruled his move to be excessive and awarded Solari the win while moving Nascimento back to second in the final order.

Once again, grandstands tickets were not sold for the Saturday competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Justin Scantlen of Valley Springs scored the win in the Bomber main over Linden’s Makila Stearns and Stockton’s Jeanna Ramos.

Joe Flowers, of Manteca, remained undefeated in the B-4 division by taking his fifth straight win of the 2020 season.

Track officials have cancelled the race program scheduled for Saturday, July 18 making the Saturday, Aug. 1 Night of Champions with Stockton Late Models, Grand American Modifieds, Bombers, B-4 Cylinders, Mini Cups and Bandoleros the next event at the 99 Speedway.
