School was out for the holiday last week, but Riverbank High sports teams had league games and matches start, both home and away, nonetheless.
Bruin Basketball
The varsity boys basketball team was busy last week, even if there were no classes.
On Wednesday, Dec. 19, the Bruins hosted Waterford, defeating the Wildcats, 93-55, in a non-league contest.
On Friday last week, they traveled to Escalon for their first Trans-Valley League game, beating the Cougars, 47-41.
They’ve got a non-league game slated at Liberty Ranch on Dec. 28, and at Ripon on Jan. 4. Their next home game will be on Jan. 8. when they host Hughson.
Girls Basketball
The Lady Bruins had two league games during the first week of vacation. On Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Hilmar, they lost to the Lady Yellowjackets in a close one, 52-49.
On Thursday, they hosted the Lady Cougars of Escalon, fighting back from a near 20-point deficit to lose 52-45.
Girls basketball won’t return to the courts until Jan. 3, 2019, when they host Ripon High School.
Bruin Boys Soccer
Riverbank varsity boys soccer got off to a tough start for the new league season, falling 10-1 to the visiting Livingston Wolves on Tuesday, Dec. 18. They traveled to Hughson, posting a 7-3 loss to the Huskies on Thursday.
They’ll play at Clovis High School tomorrow, and return to the home field on Tuesday, Jan. 8, to resume TVL play against Ripon High School.
Lady Bruin Soccer
Varsity girls soccer also suffered a 5-0 loss to Livingston on Dec. 18, on their field. Last Thursday, they hosted Hughson, falling 2-0, both the games this past week were league matches.
The Lady Bruins travel to Sonora on Friday for a non-league match, and resume league play on Jan. 8 in Ripon.
