Seasons Winding Down For Riverbank Spring Athletes

Last week’s spring break netted Riverbank High School athletes, except for baseball players, a little ‘time out’ before the final few games on the schedule.

 

Bruin Baseball

The varsity baseball team participated in a four-day tournament at Ceres High School last week. On Monday, April 18, they fell to the host Bulldogs, 9-2, then the next day, they fell, 5-1, to Hughson’s Huskies. On Wednesday, April 20, the Bruins beat Millennium’s Falcons from Tracy, 6-3, then finished play by falling 11-3 against the Waterford Wildcats on Thursday.

They were to play at Stone Ridge Christian in Merced on Monday, April 25 then return to Trans-Valley League play. The TVL schedule has the Bruins hosting the Hilmar Yellowjackets on Wednesday, April 27 and traveling to play at Hilmar on Friday, April 29.

 

Lady Bruin Softball

Varsity girls softball was to travel Ripon Christian on Tuesday, April 26 after The News went to press, then go to Ripon High School for TVL action on Thursday, April 28.

 

Co-ed Track & Field

Riverbank runners, jumpers and throwers will be busy this week, traveling to Hilmar on Wednesday, April 27, then competing in the Trans-Valley League freshman/sophomore championship on Friday, April 29 at Ripon High.

The Mountain/Valley League Middle School Meet is scheduled for Thursday, April 28 in the Angelo Novi Stadium on the RHS all-weather track.

 

Boys Volleyball

Bruin boys action was to resume league play on Monday, April 25 at Livingston, with another away game, at Gustine, Wednesday evening. The boys will be finishing up their campaign with a home match against Orestimba of Newman on April 28, scheduled as the last game of the volleyball season for the Bruins.

 

Co-ed Tennis

Bruin boys, girls, and mixed doubles tennis is busy this week, with a home match against Millennium scheduled on Monday, then traveling to Livingston on Tuesday. On Friday and Saturday this week, the tennis teams will be busy participating in the TVL League Championships, all day both days.

Action earlier this season on the diamond saw Riverbank senior Jackson Tigert, normally behind the plate as catcher, takes a turn on the mound to pitch a couple of innings.
