Riverbank High School soccer coach Martin Gonzales and his team members will conduct a soccer camp starting today, Aug. 18, and continuing Thursday and Saturday.

The Bruins must interrupt the camp for their first soccer game on Friday.

The camp located at the RHS soccer field is for children ages 4- through 15. It will run from 6- to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon and 5- to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Cost for the camp is $40 for each child or $70 for two children in the same family. Parents can pay at the field.

High school soccer players will give instruction in the basics of the game, dribbling, passing and shooting.

The camp is a fund-raiser to provide more equipment for the Bruin team.

Gonzales thanked sponsors Sandra Benitez and CMC Mortgage for contributing money to pay for T-shirts for camp participants.

Gonzales said that most camps feature only one or two coaches. Parents appreciate the one-on-one instruction that is possible in the camp setting.
