Ripon Christian, 4-1

Bruin soccer player Jesus Yepez scored a hat trick of three goals against Ripon Christian as Riverbank rolled over RC, 4-1, on Sept. 28.

The Bruins also shut out Escalon, 3-0, on Thursday without much difficulty.

"We're doing pretty well. We are 3-2 in league with nine points and we're tied for second place. The boys are working the ball nicely and playing as a team this year," said coach Martin Gonzales.

Against Ripon Christian, Riverbank scored first within 15 minutes, but RC struck back in the next 10. The score by halftime was 2-1 in the Bruins favor.

"We were dominating the field and doing pretty much what we wanted," said Gonzales.

Yepez was running all over the field, scoring one of his goals on a pass from Raymondo Garcia. Francisco De Los Santos scored the other goal for Riverbank.

Arturo Albor, in goal, made four saves for his shutout.

Against Escalon, Riverbank was leading 2-0 by halftime.

Yepez scored a long shot, which glanced off one player, hit the goal post and bounced back to Yepez feet.

Juan Lopez netted the second goal five minutes before halftime. Shooting from 35 yards out, Lopez appeared to be centering the ball for another player to score but it drifted past the goalie and went in.

The third goal came in the second half as Yepez took a pass from De Los Santos and popped it in from short range.

"Three teams go to the playoffs. We expect to be among them," said Gonzales.

This week's matches are against Hughson on Tuesday and at Livingston on Thursday.
