This past week saw the final game of the softball season on the home field for the Riverbank High varsity squad, where seniors and their families were introduced before the first pitch. Elsewhere, the Bruin track and field athletes welcomed fellow Mother Lode League competitors to Angelo Novi Field for league trials and finals and the tennis team continues to hit the court.
Lady Bruin Softball
Riverbank played their final game on Thursday, May 8, on the home field, hosting Summerville High School. They fell to the Lady Bears, 17-0.
Though the girls posted just a 2-25-1 record this season, they also posted some other, interesting stats.
Pitcher Maya Guzman was the team leader and she amassed remarkable numbers. She ranked second in strikeouts in the Sac-Joaquin Section, with 275 on the season, against 803 batters faced.
On the offensive side, she recorded 11 home runs on the season, 11 doubles and four triples, with a total of 47 hits this season, scoring 32 runs.
And all this was in addition to competing with the Riverbank track and field team this season, focusing on the triple jump, long jump and participating on several relay squads.
