Though stay-at-home restrictions are being loosened, COVID-19 is still a factor in everyday life, in Riverbank and elsewhere in California, leaving the future of a ‘normal’ season for high school fall sports in limbo for the time being.

In the meantime, we continue our ‘Spotlight’ feature, shining it on former Riverbank High School seniors, now Class of 2020 grads.

This week, we highlight Lady Bruin basketball player Evelyn Duarte.

Though she didn’t see a huge amount of playing time, she was always available from the bench, and played a key role in making sure the starting players were pushed during practices. Duarte saw most of her playing time on the court in the later stages of varsity girls basketball games. She proved herself to be an athlete who was ready to go in and do her best whenever she got the call.

Next up, for Spotlight lucky number 13, is Bruin football player Easton Gutierrez.
