A handful of contests are already in the books for the Riverbank High School spring sports athletes.
Early action has seen baseball, softball and volleyball teams suit up.
For the varsity boys baseball team, the Bruins have started the season with a 2-2 record.
They opened with a loss at LeGrand on Monday, Feb 23, falling in an 8-0 shutout. The Bruin boys then defeated LeGrand two days later, earning a 5-4 victory on the home field on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Riverbank hosted Johansen in a Feb. 28 game, losing 10-6 and then got their record evened up with an 8-5 victory at home against Denair on March 2.
The varsity softball girls, meanwhile, have opened the campaign with a 1-3 mark. Their lone win so far came in extra innings, as they won at Denair by a 7-3 decision in eight innings on Feb. 25. They have suffered some lopsided losses in the early going, including 20-3 at Modesto, 14-0 at Amador and an 11-1 loss at home hosting Enochs.
Inside, the varsity Bruin volleyball boys are still looking for their first win of the young spring season.
The squad is currently 0-3 in preseason play, suffering straight set losses at home to Central Catholic and Waterford, as well as a road loss at Oakdale.
