While the school year at Riverbank High School will be coming to a close on Thursday, May 27, some sports still have games scheduled into the second week of June on their calendars.

Many sports got a late start on the traditional spring calendar as there were only two sports seasons this year due to COVID-19.

Tuesday, last week, May 18, was a very busy day on fields and courts on the RHS campus.

There was a girls soccer match against Hughson early, ending after a penalty kick and score from the Lady Bruins, but it was not enough to salvage a 3-2 loss to the Lady Huskies.

Also that afternoon, the Bruin baseball team took to the field here, hosting Orestimba of Newman. The game ended 15-6 in the Warriors’ favor. On Thursday that week, Riverbank traveled to the Orestimba High School field, falling 22-12.

Coming up, after an away game on June 1, the Bruins play their last home game of the season on Thursday, June 3, against Mariposa.

Boys soccer was scheduled to play away and at home against Denair last week, but no scores had been reported as of presstime. They won’t play again until next week, with four more games scheduled before the season is over on June 10.

Bruin track and field athletes have their last meet scheduled for Wednesday, May 26 in Hughson for the Trans-Valley League/Southern Athletic League Championship Meeting.

Boys basketball saw two games this past week, a 61-49 loss in Hughson on May 19, and a 70-44 loss hosting Denair last Friday, May 21. They have two home games scheduled next, on Wednesday and Friday, next week.
