The Riverbank High School tennis team lost a non-league match by a score of 4-3 to Argonaut on Thursday during the Easter vacation.

"That's three of them we have lost 4-3. It better not get worse," said Bruin coach Bruce Edwards. "Argonaut was a powerhouse last year. Their girls are very good. Two of them were in the sections and dominated. We beat them in boys' singles. But they got us in doubles.

In boys singles, Riverbank's David Unruh won at 6-3, 6-2, and Antonio Vigil, at 6-0, 6-0. In girls singles, Amber Nickels lost, 1-6, 1-, and Leslie Thissen was defeated, 3-6, 0-6.

The doubles matches saw Julian Hernandez and Colton Huggins lose, 0-6, 4-6, and Gabby Zamora and Marlene Lizarraga lose, 3-6, 5-7.

In mixed doubles, Bruins Allyson McHugh and Kyle Mitchell of Riverbank won, 6-0, 6-0.

"I was hoping to win the boys doubles. We lost the first game, 6-0, but were up by 4-0 in the second game before we went downhill. We need to work on this," said Edwards. "The girls doubles too were holding their own at first. Obviously we dominated in the singles and the mixed doubles."

This week's schedule has Riverbank away to Livingston on Tuesday, and then home to Patterson on Friday.
