Bruin athletes, both the boys and the girls, continued their winning ways in a track and field meet against Hilmar on Wednesday, April 21.
Riverbank boys won their division, 94-42, for a 3-1 Trans Valley League record. The girls triumphed by 78-58 to maintain their 4-0 record unblemished.
"All the girls did so well, it's difficult to name any one outstanding," said Bruin coach Monte Wood.
Kelly Clancey set personal records in the pole vault and long jump.
Casey Wool won three out of four events in which she was entered. They were the pole vault and both hurdles, the 100 meters and the 300 meters.
"Our distance girls were as strong as ever. They placed first, second and third in three events, the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meter races," said Wood.
Angelica Duarte, he noted, won the shot put with a heave of 32-1, although Hilmar had a formidable competitor.
First place winners for the Bruins were as follows:
100 meter hurdles - Wood in 16.59; 1,600 meters - Tiffany Lackey in 6:48; 400 meters - Britanny Harrison in 1:10; 3200 meters - Georgina Arnold in 15:42; 300 meter hurdles - Wool in 50.85; shot put - Duarte with 32-1; triple jump - Clancey with 31-4; 800 meters - Bianca Melchor in 2:40; pole vault - Wool with 10-0.
In the boys division, Ralphie Stevens again won both the long jump and triple jump, Brandon Parker was first in the 100 meter and 200 meters sprints, and Ben DeYoung won the 110 meter hurdles against the top hurdler in the league.
Jesse Sesma led in the shot put, David Lucca set personal records in both the shot put and discus and Jon Blount won both the 400 and 800 meter races.
"It was a big effort to win by as many points as we did," Wood commented.
First place wins for Riverbank included:
110 hurdles - DeYoung in 16.8; long jump - Stevens with 19-10; 1,600 meters - Alex Nabors in 4:56; 400 meters - Blount in 58.43; 100 meters - Parker in 11.72; shot put - Sesma with 41.7; 300 hurdles - David Harrison in 44.54; triple jump - Stevens with 41-11; 800 meters - Blount in 2:16; pole vault - DeYoung with 13-0; 200 meters - Parker in 23.87; and the 4x400 meter relay - Riverbank.
Today the Bruins will face both Livingston and Ripon in their last home meet. The meet against Ripon is a make-up after that scheduled for March 31 was cancelled by rain.
Riverbank also is slated to compete in the Meet of Champions this Saturday, and will go against Patterson on Wednesday, May 5.
