The Riverbank High School varsity spikers concluded a lackluster season with losses to both Escalon and Hughson.

With scores of 6-25, 22-25 and 16-25, the Bruins lost to Escalon in a home volleyball match Tuesday. They continued the trend again on on Wednesday in three games against Hughson.

Final tally for the season was 4-14 overall and 2-12 in league. The Bruins defeated Livingston on both occasions that they met.

All the seniors, Sonia Naranjo, Monica Cardenas, Julissa Perez and Christina Alcala took the floor against Escalon and all scored aces, coach Lisa Mila reported.

"We played quite well, kept the pressure on and almost took one game," she said.

In the season's finale against Hughson, the Bruins did not play up to their potential, although they improved in the third game.

"We did not play together as a team. We lacked communication," said Mila.

All in all, the girls had a good season for a very young team. They should do much better, score-wise, next year, especially when reinforced with the junior varsity players, who have great potential, she said.
