Riverbank High School’s winter sports teams are still in scrimmage mode, with the regular league season not set to start until next year, and team rosters and attendant issuing of jersey numbers remains in flux. Coaches have said that league rules prohibit the issuing of rosters/jerseys until the regular pre-season, so the sports teams expect to firm up things in December, as competition becomes more formal.

Bruin Basketball

Riverbank varsity boys hosted Sierra’s Timberwolves from Manteca in scrimmage play, with coaches refereeing, on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

On Friday, they were to play at Enochs High School in Modesto. It’s possible they were playing against Riverbank kids on the Eagles’ team, since students who live in the Crossroads are part of the Sylvan School District, who then go to Modesto high schools.

This week, the Bruins were to participate in the Foundation Game, this time at Johansen High in Modesto, on Monday after The News went to press. It’s a fundraising game where varsity teams participate and referees and coaches donate their time.

All Riverbank teams were to travel to Delhi on Tuesday this week before taking Turkey day and Friday off. On Saturday, Nov. 30, they’re expecting to play at Waterford, and host Sonora on Tuesday, Dec. 3, with games for all three teams.

For the boys, they were set to play in Elk Grove at Valley High School this Monday, and host Enochs on Nov. 27.
