Police Investigating Assault

On Sunday, Aug. 20 shortly after 10:15 p.m., Riverbank Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 3800 block of Stanislaus Street in regards to a family disturbance. Deputies determined that the victim and a 36-year-old man were involved in an argument which then turned physical. During the argument, the suspect struck the victim in the head with a plastic chair causing a laceration. He was gone upon the deputies’ arrival and is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.

Also on Sunday, just after 1 a.m., deputies made contact with a 63-year-old man riding a bicycle near Eighth and Stanislaus streets when a deputy stopped him for a vehicle code violation. A records check revealed he also had a warrant for his arrest. During the arrest the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was booked at Stanislaus County Jail for the warrant and the drug possession charge.
