Dry Creek Bridge Closure Takes Effect

The Crabtree Bridge at Dry Creek located in the Sierra Nevada foothills in eastern Stanislaus County between State Route 132 and State Route 120 north and east of the Community of Waterford is temporarily closed.

Stanislaus County Public Works Director and Road Commissioner David Leamon explained that the Crabtree Bridge closure was necessary as 17 of the 95 wood stringers holding up the deck of the bridge are broken and need to be replaced.

The safety of people traveling over this bridge is the county’s first priority. The Crabtree Bridge carries an average daily traffic of 123 vehicles per a day. The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors declared an emergency in accordance with the Public Contract Code Section 22050 for the emergency temporary repairs to the Crabtree Road Bridge over Dry Creek at its Tuesday, Oct. 31 meeting.

At this time, there is no estimated date for the re-opening of the bridge. Leamon said county staffers are working diligently to open it back up safely and as early as possible.
