The FHA-HERO group at Riverbank High School has Peel-A-Deal cards for sale with the effort continuing through Friday, March 6 to help raise funds for the FHA-HERO State Leadership meeting April 25 through April 28 and an end of the school year field trip for all active members.

For $5 people can support the cause of the FHA-HERO group and get a deal for Papa Murphy’s Take-n-Bake Pizza. The coupons can be used at locations in Modesto, Manteca, Ceres, Oakdale, Turlock, Sonora, Jackson, Patterson and Riverbank.

“Great students reward gift, teacher gift, a yummy addition to an Easter basket, perfect little something to put in a thank you or birthday card,” said Nena Sandoval, FHA-HERO Advisor. “Buy four then keep one, give one to your spouse, give two away, the possibilities are endless.”

There are eight competitors and three delegates going to the FHA-HERO State Leadership meeting representing Riverbank including Carolina Duarte, Emmaly Manriquez, Sydney Hill, Brooke Rodriguez, Anyssa Garcia, Rolando Carrillo, Teresa Valenzuela, Janie Salcido, Alyssa Higuera, Citlalli Martinez and Esmeralda Reyes. Competing students will be taking part in Culinary Arts Display, Menu Planning and Table Display, Salad Preparation and Chapter Exhibit.

Duarte, who serves as a Regional Officer for Region 6, will be running for State Office. Garcia, Kathya Rodriguez, and Lupita Rodriguez created the chapter exhibit board that will be taken to the State Leadership Meeting.

The State Leadership Meeting is the culminating leadership event for FHA-HERO: The California Affiliate of FCCLA. Members throughout California gather to increase their leadership skills, explore career options, compete in the state finals of the Competitive Recognition Events and elect a new team of state officers. Chapter, region and state awards, recognition, and scholarships are presented during the State Meeting as well.

“Members return home motivated and inspired to better fulfill their roles in the home, school and community,” stated Sandoval. “Schools throughout the state attend and on average there are 500 to 600 students and advisors that attend.

“Melissa Webb, one of the State Advisors from the California Department of Education, has already procured over $600,000 in scholarships, cash and prizes for the winners of this year Competitive Recognition Events.”
