Oakdale Junior High Competes At County Academic Pentathlon

Eight local junior high and middle schools participated in the recent 17th Annual Stanislaus County Academic Pentathlon. Oakdale Junior High was one of the schools sending students to compete.

Approximately 100 students participated in a series of tests, speeches and essays featuring this year’s theme, “Water - A Most Essential Resource.”

Participating schools sent up to 18 students to serve as their team. The competition provides a forum for celebrating achievement and academic excellence in a team environment and allows pentathletes to participate in an educational activity that fosters deep respect for knowledge, cooperation and self-esteem.

The following OJHS students earned honors.

Speech - Honors Gold, Iyska Rangel; Scholastic Bronze, Gianna Tennis.

Science - Honors Bronze, Audrey Clark; Scholastic Fifth, Gianna Tennis.

Social Science - Varsity Bronze, Karley Davids and Kya Rau.

Fine Arts - Honors Fifth, Lilly Plascensia, Clara Chung, Iyska Rangel and Grace Curry.

Essay & Language/Lit - Honors Bronze, Clara Chung; Scholastic Bronze, Gianna Tennis.
