Event Cancellation
Dear Editor,
It is with sincere regret that the Oakdale Quilters’ Guild has cancelled the America’s 250th Anniversary Artisan Fair previously scheduled for June 13, 2026 (9am-5pm). This event was to have been held at The Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene. The Guild especially appreciated the support of Oakdale’s Mayor, Cherilyn Bairos. Additionally, we were pleased by the kindness we received from the local businesses, large and small, that accepted our event flyer for display to their employees and customers. For now, there is no alternate date scheduled for an Oakdale Quilters’ Guild event of this nature.
Sincerely,
Charlotte Sprague, President
Oakdale Quilters’ Guild
The Question?
Dear Editor,
President Trump recently filed a $10 billion lawsuit against his own IRS – represented not by a personal attorney, but by his own Acting Attorney General, Todd Blanche. The suit was then quietly dropped, and the Justice Department announced a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded “Anti-Weaponization Fund” – effectively a settlement Trump negotiated with himself.
A significant share of this fund is intended to compensate January 6 rioters – individuals who assaulted police officers, threatened the Vice President, and caused millions of dollars in property damage to the U.S. Capitol. Taxpayers already covered that damage. Now we may be asked to pay the perpetrators.
To those who support this administration, I ask one question: If a Democratic president sued his own government, had his own attorney general negotiate the settlement, and directed $1.8 billion in taxpayer money to his political allies – what would you demand be done?
Principles should not change based on the party in power. If this is wrong for one president, it is wrong for all.
Sincerely,
Larry Podolsky
