Progress continues as work on the exterior of what is referred to as Pad C at the Crossroads Shopping Center nears completion.

Masonry, stucco and painting work outside is almost finished with the tile roofing progressing well. Inside, modifications and installation is continuing for the four confirmed tenants of the five-suite wing.

Headway on the exterior of the project remains obvious to commuters and others who travel through the Clairbel-Oakdale road corridors, with scaffolding still in place near the corner. Once the masonry and roofing work is completed, improvements inside the suites will be less obvious.

Work this past week included rock and mortar being put in place as Spanish tiles lay stacked on the roof, waiting to be installed. Around the building’s exterior, concrete sidewalks were being installed on the Oakdale Road side and on the north end, across the driveway from the existing Starbucks.

Riverbank Building Department officials can now confirm four of the new tenants who will be occupying the wing, because they all have pulled building permits for the work to finish their interiors.

As previously announced, three of the tenants are restaurants: Chipotle Mexican Grill, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit and Panda Express Gourmet Chinese Food. The fourth tenant is now being confirmed as an AT&T Store, since a permit has officially been pulled. Earlier, the contractor building the wing indicated the developer had told him the telephone store had signed a lease, but the city would not confirm it until the permits were issued.

There are five Panda Express restaurants in the greater Modesto area, with one in Manteca and one each in Ceres and Turlock. The nearest Dickey’s BBQ Pits are located, one each, in Modesto and Turlock. The nearest Chipotle’s are located, one each, in Manteca, Modesto and Turlock.

One thing that seems to be supported by the layout of the buildings is that there will be no additional drive-through facilities in this construction. There is no space between the building and the Oakdale Road sidewalk, with additional sidewalks poured immediately around the building. There is a parking area remaining on the east side of the building.
