Santa’s big day is quickly approaching and he knows some homes still need a pet for the merriest of holidays. To that end, the Oakdale Animal Shelter in partnership with the Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance (OSPA) is offering the 12 Dogs of Christmas adoption special, that began on Monday, Dec. 12.

Every day from Dec. 12 to Dec. 23, a dog can be adopted free of charge, on a first come, first serve basis. The Oakdale Animal Shelter serves the communities of Oakdale, Riverbank and Escalon.

“We have beautiful dogs who just need their special person to walk through our shelter door and meet them so they can make a family’s holiday even happier,” said OSPA board member Debi Scoles. “This promotion provides the perfect opportunity to adopt a dog and bring him home just in time for Christmas.”

Some dogs have been at the shelter for several weeks now and are eagerly awaiting the time when they will be welcomed into a home with love and creature comforts.

The Oakdale Animal Shelter staff thoroughly vets all adoptable dogs and can provide valuable insight to potential adopters. This information helps people select the dog that will be the best fit for their home.

“I can’t imagine our home without our dog,” said Scoles. “It makes me so happy that we can work with the shelter to offer 12 more families the chance to adopt a wonderful pet (with no adoption fee) to make their holidays and the New Year even better.”

The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. For more information, call the Oakdale Animal Shelter at 209-847-5625.
