As the temperatures rise in the valley, evenings are the best time to be out and about taking in the local landscapes. For folks that want to enjoy some fabulous fare and perhaps find the perfect gift for themselves or a special someone, the Tuesday Evening Markets in downtown Riverbank feature some of the most unique jewelry and inspired items in the area. Markets will run every Tuesday evening in June and July from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Plaza Del Rio, which is located in downtown Riverbank at the intersection of Third and Santa Fe streets.
The first market night on June 2 offered up a number of vendors. B & B Produce was on hand with fresh produce including juicy red apples and ears of corn that were ready to grill. Throughout Plaza Del Rio, there were lots of options for fresh food and products from tallow-based balms to perfumes made from clean ingredients and artisan crafted pieces. Kids had their very own space, filled with lots of activities from art projects to hopscotch and even an area for practicing their somersaults.
From the multiple food trucks lining the street in downtown Riverbank, the aromas of gourmet mac and cheese, teriyaki chicken and sweet pastries wafted through the evening air. In addition to the many food vendors outside, restaurants shared their offerings including: craft cocktails and Sushi Bombs from Black Sheep Kitchen and Cocktails to Fried Plantains and Pork Belly Adobo Bowl at Kinfolks Flatstone Grill. Those were in addition to the familiar calzones and pizzas from Pizza Plus, a Riverbank staple.
The relaxed atmosphere of the Tuesday night downtown market makes it a destination for the summer, as there will be cool treats and fabulous eats to be found, in addition to produce and merchandise, in the City of Action.
