Head out to the Murphys Creek Theatre this month and enjoy the comedy ‘Over the River and Through the Woods’ on stage, now through July 30.

This heartwarming family comedy focuses on Nick, a single, Italian-American guy from New Jersey. The job he’s been waiting for would take him away from his beloved, but annoying, grandparents. He tells them. The news doesn’t sit so well. Thus begins a series of schemes to keep Nick around.

Joe DiPietro’s ‘Over the River and Through the Woods’ is directed by Maryann Curmi.

Nick Cristano visits his wacky grandparents in Hoboken, New Jersey every week for dinner.

“My grandparents firmly believed in the three F’s of life,” Nick confides, “family, faith and food.”

He takes viewers on a sweet and sentimental journey into the heart of the family you might have had or wish you did. Disaster strikes when Nick announces that he has been offered a job across the country in Seattle, Washington. The others don’t want him to leave and concoct a scheme that sets in motion a chain of events that surprises them all.

Shows are scheduled Fridays, July 21 and 28 at 7 p.m.; Saturdays, July 22 and 29 at 7 p.m.; and Sundays, July 23 and 30 at 2 p.m.
