The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, May 25 through Monday, May 31. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.



5:51 p.m. –Fire crews responded to Woodward Reservoir for an injury accident involving a personal watercraft, ridden by an adult and a juvenile, that struck another juvenile that was on the shore. One adult patient was transported to an area hospital; one juvenile was treated then released at the scene. The juvenile who was struck on the shore sustained non-life-threatening injuries; they were flown to a regional children’s hospital as a precaution. Law enforcement is conducting an investigation.

8:13 p.m. – Water rescues 26, 28, Engine 27, and Battalion 5 responded to a water rescue on the Stanislaus River for two people that were floating on the river when their flotation devices struck branches and deflated, leaving them stranded in unfamiliar territory. Crews were able to make access to them from the shore then assist the stranded parties back to shore safely and uninjured.



1:41 p.m. – Modesto Fire, West Point Fire, Oak Valley Ambulance, Stanislaus Sheriff, CHP and REACH 2 responded to a vehicle accident on Highway 4 east of Milton Road. One patient sustained major injuries and was flown to a trauma center; but succumbed to her injuries.



3:25 p.m. – Modesto Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to a single vehicle motorcycle accident on Milton Road, south of Highway 4. One driver was transported by air ambulance to a local trauma center with moderate injuries.



Engine 28 conducted joint training with Cal Fire at Station 28. Crews practiced vehicle extrication.

6:29 p.m. – MCS responded to 28 Mile Road and Sonora Road for a grass fire. Working with Cal Fire, the incident was contained at 500 acres.
