Venturing off on her own to bring fans a new experience called “The Ann Wilson Thing” (TAWT) one half of Heart, Ann Wilson, will entertain fans with some blues with a rock edge in an intimate performance at the Gallo Center for the Arts on Wednesday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. The sister duo of Ann and Nancy Wilson that makes Heart complete is still together and touring. The Ann Wilson Thing is just an additional exploit to bring Heart fans and new fans something a little different in select venues.

A special event coming up through San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation will be staged at Oak Grove Nature Center on Saturday, April 23. Join the fun at ‘Bugfest’ and enjoy face painting, crafts, insect races, bug safaris and more. Volunteers are also needed to help put on the event; for additional information about Saturday’s festivities, call 209-953-8814.

The Knights Ferry History and Museum Association will host the 25th Annual Peddler’s Faire on Sunday, April 24. Event hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. The event will feature antiques, collectibles, and handmade craft items displayed by the craftsman. Knights Ferry is a half mile off of Highway 120/108 just east of Oakdale. Visitors are invited to walk across the 153-year-old covered bridge, which was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 2014. The ice cream shop will also be open during the Peddler’s Faire, as will the Knights Ferry Museum. For additional information contact Carol Davis at 480-3602 or 881-3217.

Riverbank welcomes the REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 27. Tuesday, May 3 will mark the date for the gathering of members and friends for Oakdale Women’s Club. If you are not yet a member come see what the club is about by joining them at this meeting/luncheon at the Oakdale Country Club. It will begin at noon. The program for this meeting is a celebration of the club’s woman of the year, Di Kantz There will also be the installation of officers.
