The annual Escalon Veterans’ Day activities are in the planning stages already, and Riverbank resident Vince Giovaniello, who serves as Adjutant for the Escalon American Legion post, is looking for entries for the parade.

The events of Friday, Nov. 11 will start with the parade on Main Street in Escalon, kicking off at 10:30 a.m. There will be a brief Memorial Service at the Community Center Memorial Wall following the parade and a chicken barbecue at the city’s Community Center served from noon to 3 p.m.

Giovaniello is the parade coordinator and more information about participating in the parade is available by contacting him at 209-869-6978 or 209-604-9100.

Parade entries are due by Nov. 7 and line up for the parade starts on Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. with the parade itself at 10:30 a.m. The parade will pause briefly for a flag ceremony and the playing of Taps at the historic caboose in the city’s Main Street Park.

The American Legion and American Legion Riders are putting on the event together and encourage all in the community to come enjoy the parade, memorial service and chicken barbecue. Tickets for the barbecue are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and younger. They will be available at the door or by calling Al Bellinger at 209-838-3388.
