RUSD Now Offers Free Meals To All Students

A few weeks ago, Riverbank Unified School District officials were warning families they would need to re-register for the free meal program the district provides. Last week, they sent out a notice that meals would be free to all 18-year-old and under students in the district.

The RUSD Food Service Department posted the notices on Facebook last week, saying that “due to continuing distance learning, the District will begin the Seamless Summer Food Program effective Wednesday, September 2nd. A FREE breakfast and lunch will be available to all children 18 years old and younger.”

Hours posted for the pickup of both breakfast and lunch meals are 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., continuing until Dec. 18, at California Avenue School, Cardozo Middle School and the Riverbank Language Academy.

In addition, they may be picked up at Cardozo from 11 a.m. to noon. All pickups are from Monday through Friday each week.

The food program is for students throughout the district, including those at the high school; they can pick their meals up from any of the district sites.
