Single Vehicle Crash Fatality

A 26-year-old man was killed as a result of a single car accident in Riverbank in the early morning hours of Monday, Dec. 7.

California Highway Patrol officials stated Shawn Callahan, who turned 26 on Dec. 6, was eastbound at Highway 108-Patterson Road approaching the curve where Highway 108 becomes Callander Avenue in Riverbank around 2:30 a.m. when he hit the raised concrete curb and lost control of his 2002 Nissan.

The car spun on the highway, continued down the roadway, and stuck a wood power pole on the driver’s side of the car, causing major damage. Callahan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation showed the Nissan was travelling about 50 mph when it hit the curb and that Callahan was not wearing a seatbelt.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
