YES (Youth Entertainment Stage) Company is seeking Stanislaus County students in grades 7-12, to be actors, singers, dancers, and crew members for the production of “Footloose,” to be performed at the Gallo Center for the Arts, July 21 through 30. No experience or preparation is necessary and all audition materials will be provided. Students should plan to attend only one of the following open auditions:
Saturday, March 25 – Noon, CSU Stanislaus Main Stage, Turlock
Wednesday, March 29 – 4:30 p.m., Johansen High School Theatre, Modesto
Thursday, March 30 – 6 p.m., Oakdale High School Theatre, Oakdale
Saturday, April 1 – 10:30 a.m., Downey High School Theatre, Modesto
Wednesday, April 5 – 5 p.m., Modesto Junior College, Recital Hall, 435 College Ave., Modesto
Tuesday, April 11 – 5 p.m., West Side Theatre, 1331 Main St., Newman
The Stanislaus County Office of Education is sponsoring YES Company’s 26th Annual summer show, Footloose. The musical is based on the 1984 movie and has become a stage musical phenomenon. It tells the story of a big city kid who moves to a small conservative town where rock music and dancing are frowned upon. The hero of the story rallies the kids and takes on the town’s establishment. The production commitment is extracurricular and includes weekends, June 7 through Aug. 1. The professionally staffed program and top-quality production is provided to the participants for a tuition of $200. Scholarships are available.
