Oakdale Police investigate incident near school

On Monday, May 11, the Oakdale Police Department received a report regarding a male driver in a silver sedan, near Cloverland Elementary School, who was allegedly contacting juveniles and asking them to enter his vehicle.

Upon receiving the report, officers began investigating the incident, which included reviewing city camera footage and conducting follow up interviews.

According to a press release issued by the department on Tuesday, May 12, during their investigation officers did locate a vehicle matching the description, observed in city cameras, and worked to identify both the vehicle and the driver involved.

“Through investigative efforts, officers have since identified the individual and determined there is no danger to the public,” the press release stated.

At this time, said police, no crime has been committed and the incident has not been determined to be an attempted kidnapping.

“The Oakdale Police Department understands there has been discussion regarding this incident on social media and wanted to provide the community with accurate information regarding the outcome of the investigation,” the press release posted to the department’s Facebook page noted. “We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation while investigators reviewed the circumstances surrounding this report.”
