Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 5-13-26

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, May 5 through Monday, May 11. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

MONDAY, MAY 11

Annual pump testing continued at the Regional Fire Training Center.

Battalion 2: Engine 26 trained on RAM deployment.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.

Crews completed mandated Target Solution assignments, conducted Monday apparatus checks and Monday station maintenance.

SUNDAY, MAY 10

Battalion 2: Today was the final day of the Trench Rescue class at Station 17. We would like to thank Blue Collar Training Network for providing the training to our participants. Everyone enjoyed the class and took away tremendous respect for the skills involved in trench collapse rescue.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Crews in Battalion 5 went over the CalFire Comm Plan for the upcoming fire season and conducted scenario training.

2:30 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28, Truck 5 and Battalion 5 responded for a potential structure fire on Lee Avenue in Oakdale. Engine 27 arrived on scene with nothing showing and investigated. Crews found no fire emergency and the balance of the response was cancelled.

SATURDAY, MAY 9

Battalion 2: 10:03 p.m. – Engines 9, 23, and Battalion 2 responded to a vehicle vs. animal on Milnes Road near Albers Road. E23 was the first to arrive and located a vehicle on its side in a field of cows. There were no injuries, but a pole was sheared. MID was contacted for the electrical hazard. CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.

Battalion 5: Crews performed daily equipment checks.

Battalion 5 attended Oakdale’s Saturday Morning Market.

1:24 p.m. – Brush 28, OES4615, OES4617, Water Tender 27, CalFire Engine 4486, and BC5 responded to Eaton Road for a vegetation fire. On scene crews located a small fire caused by mowing dry grass. Fire stopped at one-eighth of an acre.

FRIDAY, MAY 8

Battalion 2: Today was the first day of a three-day Trench Rescue Class at Station 17.

Engines 24 and 26 performed hose evolutions with the new firefighter recruits.

12:05 a.m. (Saturday) – Engines 23, 28, Quint 22, and Battalion 2 responded to an overturned vehicle in the intersection of Claribel and Albers. E23 eventually located a solo overturned vehicle on Alvarado Road near Oakdale-Waterford Highway. The solo occupant was removed and transported to a local hospital by Oak Valley Ambulance. CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.

Battalion 5: Crews completed company level training and completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Justin Voss was promoted to the rank of Engineer in a small ceremony at Station 27. Chief Evans presented Engineer Voss with his new engineer’s badge.

1:43 a.m. (Saturday) – Engine 7, OES4618 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a vegetation fire in the Claus and Terminal Road area. Battalion 5 reported a possible burn pile in the middle of a field. All resources repositioned to Litt Rd where access was made and confirmed a burn pile with no exposures. All resources cleared.

THURSDAY, MAY 7

Battalion 2: Battalion 2 crews finished rotating through RT 130 annual wildland fire training.

Quint 22 trained with our newest members on ventilation and roof operations.

Battalion 5: Engine 28’s crew discussed forcible entry techniques on various door types with their probationary firefighter fresh out of the academy.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 6

Crews attended the public service appreciation breakfast at the Modesto Centre Plaza.

Battalion 2: SR911 Dispatchers rode along with Engine 26 and Engine 23.

Battalion 2 companies began rotating through RT130 annual training.

Engine 21, Engine 24, Engine 26, and Quint 22 all had newly graduated firefighters riding along on orientation shifts.

Battalion 5: Battalion 5 participated in the RT130 wildland training focusing on the vegetation fire tabletop scenario. Crews discussed tactics and strategies as well as radio communications.

TUESDAY, MAY 5

Annual pump testing continued today on all type 1 engines performed by Fleet.

Battalion 2: E21, Q22, E26 continued training with Probationary Firefighters on fireground operations and tactics.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted Monday apparatus checks and Monday station maintenance.

Battalion 5 attended the monthly Chiefs meetings at Fire Admin.

E-28 stretched the RAM for a simulated defensive fire at a one-story vacant commercial structure in the City of Oakdale. They also stretched a 1 ¾” line to a basement, and discussed and simulated various forcible entry techniques at a commercial strip-mall.
