Brenda Arlene Copes, age 74 of Oakdale, CA, passed away on August 28, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Brenda/Arlene was born July 17, 1951 in Fairfield, CA to parents Merl and Dortha Schultz. She resided in Oakdale, CA for 49 years. Brenda/Arlene graduated from Modesto High School in 1969, she then attended college to pursue her career in nursing. Brenda/Arlene married Thomas Copes on December 17, 1994 at their home in Oakdale, CA.

Brenda/Arlene worked as a back office nurse for Dr. Lynn Burroughs for 24 years until Dr. Burroughs’ retirement. She continued her career retiring from Jamestown Correctional Facility as a medical records clerk.

Her hobbies included spending time with her loved ones, restoring antique furniture, drawing and sewing.

She is preceded in death by her parents Merl and Dortha Schultz, brother Ronnie Schultz, daughter Denna Lewis and stepson, Patrick (Gene) Copes.

She is survived by her husband Thomas Copes, her brother Everett Schultz (Josephine), daughter Laurie Camilleri (Jim), of Petaluma, CA, stepdaughter Ginger Heinzle (Steve) of Modesto, CA, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many extended family members.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 9 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon, CA.
