Loretta V. Buie, entered into a peaceful rest on October 4, 2025, in Oakdale, CA. Born on May 6, 1935, in Oklahoma to Elihu and Gertie Dillard, Loretta was the sixth of seven children and the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Loretta graduated from Laton High School in 1953 and furthered her education at Pentecostal Bible College in Gilroy, CA. She married Henry Buie on June 21, 1958. In 1971, she and her husband, Henry Buie, who preceded her in death in 1998, moved to Oakdale, CA, where they pastored Word of Truth Fellowship. After Henry’s passing, Loretta continued her pastoral work and also worked at Hunts/Conagra from which she retired.
A devout member of Living Hope Fellowship in Oakdale, Loretta’s life was deeply rooted in her faith and her church activities. She dedicated much of her time to her family and the church community, embodying a life of service and commitment.
Loretta is survived by her four children: Michelle Frias, Rhonda Buie, Michael Buie, and Kevin Buie. She was a cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
Loretta’s life was a testament to her faith and the love she had for her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held on October 18 at 1 p.m. at Living Hope Fellowship in Oakdale, CA.
