Young Oakdale scientists place at county event

Students of Oakdale elementary schools recently participated in the 28th Annual Stanislaus County Elementary Science Olympiad. The event was hosted on Saturday, May 2 at Walnut Elementary Education Center in Turlock.

The following Oakdale schools placed in the top five in their events.

A Matter of Matter: Second Place, Magnolia and Fourth Place, Fair Oaks.

Can Race: First Place, Magnolia.

Codebusters: First Place, Fair Oaks.

Deep Blue Sea: Second Place, Fair Oaks; Third Place, Magnolia and Fifth Place, Cloverland.

Estimania: Fifth Place, Fair Oaks.

Knock, Knock Who’s There: First Place, Fair Oaks and Fifth Place, Magnolia.

Leaf and Tree: First Place, Magnolia.

Map Reading: Second Place, Magnolia.

Mystery Architecture: Fifth Place, Fair Oaks.

Name the Scientist: First Place, Fair Oaks.

Straw Egg Drop: Third Place, Fair Oaks.

Write It Do It: First Place, Cloverland.

The Oakdale teams were among those from a dozen elementary schools throughout Stanislaus County that participated in the annual event.
