The Turlock Certified Farmers Market has found a new home at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds where the community can support their local farmers and vendors.
After years of successful market seasons, the Turlock Certified Farmers Market (TCFM) will now be held every Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting May 7, 2016 through Oct. 29, 2016 (blackout dates include the two Saturdays of Fair, July 9 and 16) at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in the Ag Pavilion located near the Hilmar Cheese entrance gate or the West Gate off of Soderquist Road. Guests will be able to enjoy fresh produce, local ingredients, and hand-made items, while walking around enjoying the several participating vendors. Parking will be made available on Soderquist Road, as well as inside the Fairgrounds.
“We have always worked towards having a farmers market here at the Fairgrounds and look forward to this partnership with Turlock Certified Farmers Market,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “The Fair started as The Melon Carnival, which makes it relevant that the Turlock Certified Farmers Market will now be held here at the Fairgrounds.”
Agriculture is a primary production throughout most of the Central Valley. It is one of the world’s most productive agricultural regions, with nearly all non-tropical crops being grown here. The TCFM was formed out of a desire to bring these local crops directly to area consumers.
“When Stanislaus County Fair graciously invited us to relocate to their property, it just felt like a natural fit. We have always admired their commitment to local agriculture and farmers, and now we are a part of their story,” stated Elizabeth Claes, Board Chair for the Turlock Certified Farmers Market.
