Grab a cowboy hat and low-back lawn chair or blanket and settle under the shade of heritage oaks at the Second Annual Red Dirt and Gold Dust Music Fest, Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds.

“This is going to be an incredible day – five bands playing the best of Red Dirt music – southern rock, Americana, bluegrass, outlaw country and good ol’ country – it’s all part of Red Dirt music,” said Jeremy Leonard, owner of Whiskey Slide Productions, LLC, in Angels Camp.

Leonard has teamed up with Smooth and Mechelle Roose of Missouri, owners of Double R Exotics, to bring this one-of-a-kind music festival to the golden hills of the Mother Lode.

The all-day event will host five of the Red Dirt industry’s popular and up-and-coming bands, including national recording artists: Jason Eady, Courtney Patton, Cottonwood Creek, Porter Union and Jamie Lin Wilson, with special appearances by Smooth Roose and Evan Webb, both popular Red Dirt singers in their own right.

In addition to great music, concertgoers can expect a Gold Country BBQ and other great eats as vendors will be offering grub and libations for sale.

“The Bret Harte Little League will be working the beer booth and Calaveras 4-H will be handling parking,” said Leonard. “Both groups will be earning a percentage toward their clubs. It’s a nice way to give back to the community.”

Tickets are now on sale at www.whiskeyslideproductions.com for $25 each, and may also be purchased at the Angels Camp Body Shop, 1270 S. Main St., Angels Camp. Tickets will rise to $30 day of the event so there is great value in buying early. Kids 10 and under are admitted free. Parking is an additional $5 charge. No outside food, beverages, coolers or pop-up tents will be allowed on the fairgrounds. Low back chairs and blankets are encouraged. Gates open at 2 p.m. with music starting around 3 p.m.
