Stockton Arts Week Festival Seeks Artists, Organizations

The City of Stockton is now accepting applications from local artists and arts organizations to provide creative services during Stockton Arts Week, celebrated this year the week of Oct. 11 through 2019. Applications are being accepted in the following three categories: Community Center Workshops, Collide Festival Workshops, and the Collide Festival Sculpture Garden. The deadline for completed applications is July 31 at 5 p.m.

Proposals will be evaluated by the City’s Stockton Arts Week planning committee based on how well the proposal achieves the designated goals. Artists and arts organizations may apply in more than one category. If accepted, those awarded will receive a stipend of $400, plus $200 to purchase materials. Amounts may vary based on number of accepted proposals. Notification of accepted proposals will be made by Aug. 10.

The evaluation criteria for the category of Community Center Workshop: projects must be able to be completed in an hour or less; projects must have at least two components: an artist demonstrating a technique and a participation component for attendees; projects must be accessible to participants who are five years old and older; and overall creativity of project idea.

The evaluation criteria for the category of Collide Festival Workshop: projects must be able to be completed in a reasonable amount of time to allow attendees to participate in other workshops; projects must have at least two components: an artist demonstrating a technique and a participation component for attendees; projects must have two or more support staff to accommodate participation by attendees; projects must be accessible to participants who are five years old and older; and overall creativity of project idea.

The evaluation criteria for the category of Temporary Sculpture Garden: use of materials that are easily assembled, disassembled and transported; use of materials that are environmentally friendly; projects that avoid construction materials and methods that could cause injuries; projects that are 6’ x 6’ or larger; and overall creativity of project idea.
