“A Taste Of CTE” Showcases Variety Of Career Opportunities
DELTA

With the COVID-19 pandemic causing economic hardship for many families across the region, students and community members can learn more about promising career opportunities at San Joaquin Delta College’s “A Taste of CTE” virtual event on Thursday, Aug. 13.

Those who attend the free event will hear directly from employers representing in-demand CTE (Career Technical Education) industries, including business, heavy equipment, education and healthcare.

Attendees will also learn about the resources Delta can provide to help them reach their goals.

Whether they’ve recently graduated from high school and are trying to decide what to do in life, or whether they are working adults who have lost their jobs in this recession or simply want to retool for a new career, “A Taste of CTE” is relevant for everyone.

“These are extremely hard times in our community and across the country,” said Michelle Castanon, program manager of CTE & Workforce Development at Delta College. “We hope that “A Taste of CTE” will give students and community members a better understanding of the in-demand career opportunities that exist in our region, and how Delta College can get them to where they want to be. Now is the perfect time to make a change.”

“A Taste of CTE” will take place on Thursday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

One-hour presentations are scheduled as follows:

• 10 a.m.: Business Programs

• 11:30 a.m.: Heavy Equipment/Diesel/Labor Programs

• 1 p.m.: Education programs

• 2:30 p.m.: Health sciences
