Bicycle Event Returning

With the easing of COVID-related restrictions, organizers are planning the return of a popular event to downtown Riverbank next month.

The Kids Health and Safety Fun Fair will return with its Bike Rodeo on Wednesday, July 14, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Riverbank Community Center Park.

The fair was last held in 2018, as a stand alone event, like this one coming, but started out as a part of the weekly Farmers Markets that ended in 2017. Back then, all the activities were hosted at Community Center Park.

The newly revised iteration of the Farmers Market is being held weekly, on Tuesdays this summer, on Santa Fe Street, between Third and Fourth streets.

The upcoming safety fair, in addition to the City of Riverbank and Riverbank Police Services, is being sponsored by Central Valley Community Resources, a local non-profit organization.

A major feature of the Safety Fair is a free bicycle registration, for those who ride their bikes to the park that day. Normally, a fee is charged.

Other events include the Bike Rodeo, for riders 12 years of age and under.

According to organizers, there’ll be lots of health and safety information for families, along with food and crafts booths available.

New this year will be the addition of a Bike Wheelie and Trick Contest. However, entrance to this competition will be limited to Riverbank residents who are 13 to 18 years of age.

Potential vendors who might be interested in participating are urged to contact CVCR, darlene@cvcr-ca.org for more information.
