Riverbank High School is celebrating Winter Homecoming week with a theme of “Bees in the trap” which was selected since the Bruins will be taking on the Hilmar Yellowjackets in Trans-Valley League boys basketball action on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.

There are several activities that students are participating in this week like spirit dress days, lunch time activities, a rally, and selection of new royalty.

There will be a rally on Friday to conjure up excitement and support for the Bruin varsity boys basketball team and at halftime the Homecoming King and Queen will be announced.

The Winter Homecoming Royal Court includes King candidates: Diego Felix, Emiliano Garcia, Michael Soriano, Ivan Chagoya, and Cristian Fuentes; Queen candidates: Mia Vidal, Julianna Godina, Livi Fernandez, Jacquelin Magana, and Abigail Moreno. Two of these royal candidates will be selected for RHS Winter Homecoming honors on Friday night, one chosen as King and one selected as Queen.

On Monday, RHS students did not have to take much time getting dressed for school as the spirit dress day was to wear pajamas, kicking off Homecoming week. Students on Tuesday dressed like geeks or jocks and for those that chose neither, they wore green. To show their school spirit on Wednesday, students were asked to dress like a senior citizen or to wear blue attire.

The lunchtime activities during the week were musical chairs, tug-o-war, and limbo. On Thursday students can participate in karaoke during lunch and wear their favorite sports jersey for the spirit dress day.

The festivities wrap on Friday with a rally and students are asked to show their spirit wearing their school colors of maroon, black, and silver or gray.

Winter Homecoming Week is a Riverbank High School tradition that will be a lasting memory for the class of 2023.
