At a special meeting of the Riverbank City Council, a ‘changing of the guard’ was approved.

Longtime Public Works Director Mike Riddell previously announced his retirement after 11 years with the city, and the council held a special session to name his successor. Cody Bridgewater was named to take over the position. His employment as the new Public Works leader begins on Friday, Dec. 2.

Riddell’s last day on the job is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 16.

Bridgewater is a Riverbank resident, and has worked for the City of Oakdale in a similar position as the one he will assume for Riverbank. The council cited his experience, especially with wastewater plants, in the decision to hire him. Riverbank is expecting to begin improvements soon on its sewer plant.
