As the community of Oakdale hustled and bustled with true Western swagger over the past week, Cloverland Elementary School students were able to enjoy a little bit of the ag life, as well as learn, during their annual Ag Day event.

According to Tammie Rhoads, Cloverland fourth grade teacher and Ag Day Event Coordinator, a total of close to 75 participants were on campus sharing their passion, as well as knowledge for varying areas of the ag way of life.

“To have some kind of event where the kids can actually see what’s going on around them in the agricultural realm, is fantastic,” Rhoads said, adding the 4-H involvement and exposure to animals as equally beneficial.

“I think the percentage is much higher for our children to go into ag than a lot of other places in California,” she continued.

Presenters were spotted throughout the campus, as well as in classrooms as they spent the morning educating and interacting with the young Cloverland Cougars.

“Something that I think is so important for these kids. It’s one of our biggest days of the year, they love it,” the event coordinator shared, giving high praises to the community for its support. “It’s really phenomenal.”

She emphasized the event is a team effort to make it happen, from the district to the high school sending over students to help.

“It’s a really wonderful day, almost like a community fun day for the kids in ag.”
