Deputies Answer Weekly Calls For Service

Riverbank Police Services received a number of calls for service this past week including thefts, a structure fire, and a high speed pursuit.

Around 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, deputies were dispatched to a catalytic convertor theft near Santa Fe Street and Callander Avenue. Deputies identified the responsible parties. A 29-year-old man and a 49-year-old man were located near Third Street and Sierra Street, both were arrested for the theft and the stolen catalytic convertor was recovered.

Deputies responded to Kohl’s for retail theft during the morning on Saturday, June 19. Deputies identified a 25-year-old as the responsible. She is currently wanted for retail theft.

On Saturday afternoon, deputies stopped a vehicle for traffic violations near Atchison and Fifth streets. The passenger, identified by police as Anthony Rubio, 27, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, an illegal lower pistol receiver, and he had three warrants for his arrest. Rubio was arrested without incident.

Deputies along with Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to a structure fire in the 3400 block of High Street on Thursday, June 17 in the afternoon. Everyone safely made it out of the residence. Unfortunately, the damage to the residence was significant. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire investigator.

Just after midnight on Wednesday, June 16, deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle for failing to stop for a stop sign near First Street and Patterson Road. The motorcycle failed to stop for the deputy and a short pursuit ensued. The pursuit was quickly cancelled do the dangerous speeds of the motorcycle rider.

On Tuesday, June 15 in the afternoon, traffic deputies investigated a hit and run collision on Oakdale Road just south of Patterson Road. A sedan collided with a motorcycle and the driver of the sedan fled eastbound through the shopping center and then ran south into the neighborhood towards Colony Manor jumping through numerous backyards. Several units came to assist from the main sheriff’s office including a K9 and drone. After an exhaustive search, authorities were unable to locate the responsible, the investigation is ongoing.

During the afternoon on Tuesday, June 15, deputies contacted a 54-year-old woman near Oakdale and Patterson roads as she had an active warrant for her arrest. She was arrested without incident.

Deputies arrested a suspect identified as Martin Pantoja-Guzman, 26, for a previous warrant of possession of an unregistered assault weapon that was located at an illegal marijuana grow on Monday, June 14 in the afternoon.
