District Staff Prepares For Start Of School Year

Outdoor lockers getting spray washed, computer keyboards getting dusted off in the business office, staff at Riverbank High School was preparing for the resumption of classes this next week.

But students will be visiting the campus this week, getting ready for that first day of class, as well.

 

Freshman Orientation Wednesday

All incoming RHS freshman were invited to attend the LINK Crew/Freshman Orientation on Wednesday, July 31. The freshmen were to gather by 9 a.m. in the Fauria Gym.

Scheduled are activities and opportunities to join clubs and athletic teams, teamwork building and more, according to officials. Each incoming freshman will be assigned a junior/senior mentor to help them navigate their high school experience.

 

Bruin Day Thursday

Thursday, July 31 is designated Bruin Day, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., scheduled as follows: ninth graders – 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; 10th graders - 10:30 a.m. to noon; 11th graders, noon to 1 p.m. and 12th graders, the incoming seniors, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Among other activities, students will be able to pick up student schedules, purchase ASB cards for $20, Yearbooks for $60 (beginning of school year), purchase PE shirts for $15, shorts $15; buy Spirit clothing, get a parking permit (free), purchase Chromebook insurance for $15, and pay outstanding fees/return books as needed.

Classes for the new 2019-2020 school year begin on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

 

Cardozo Update

Cardozo Middle School Round Up will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1 with student and parent orientation with a campus tour for sixth graders that begins at 9 a.m. and a sixth grade picnic from noon to 1 p.m.

Seventh and eighth graders can pick up their schedules and purchase additional items from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.

 

Teacher Kick-Off

The new school year will begin with light refreshments on Monday, Aug. 5 at the Teacher/Administration Kick-Off event held at the Ray Fauria Gymnasium on the Riverbank High School campus. There will be a keynote speaker, an address by Board President Suzanne Dean, introductions of the District’s Governance Team and district administration, and learning sessions for staff along with a luncheon for all RUSD employees.
