Enrollment Express Arriving Virtually At Delta College

With fall classes about to begin, Delta College will host a special event to help current students, new students, and community members get started on a high-quality, low-cost education.

The virtual “Enrollment Express” event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21. Students will get help signing up for classes, learn about financial aid opportunities, and finish orientation, among other highlights.

The event link can be found at: bit.ly/SJDCEnrollmentExpress.

Students are strongly encouraged to apply to Delta College prior to the event.

“This pandemic has challenged all of us in ways we could not have imagined before, but enrolling at Delta College this fall is a great way to get back on your feet and start moving forward,” said Superintendent/President Dr. Omid Pourzanjani. “Our in-person and online classes give you the flexibility you need to take classes around your work schedule.”

Delta can support students in many other ways as well, including:

• Free textbook access for vaccinated students

• Free parking

• Free bus service for Delta students on routes across San Joaquin County

• Health services at the new Delta College Health Center

• Free tuition for first-time, full-time college students and for students who meet certain income criteria. Altogether, two out of three Delta students pay zero dollars for tuition.

The College offers over 70 areas of study and about 200 degrees and certificates. Students can either prepare to transfer to a university or go directly from Delta into new careers in the community.

A recent economic impact study found that Delta graduates earn, on average, $8,700 more per year than high school graduates, driving home the fact that college is worth the time and effort particularly for those who have faced hard economic times in the COVID-19 era.

“There really is no better time to pursue higher education,” Dr. Pourzanjani said.

Although the Aug. 21 Enrollment Express event is being held virtually, many in-person services and activities are returning to Delta College campuses this fall, with appropriate COVID-19 safeguards in place including the mandatory wearing of masks indoors for all persons.

If you can’t attend Enrollment Express, prospective students can always visit deltacollege.edu and chat live with a representative.
