Fireworks Sales Officially Under Way
Placeholder Image
The Fourth of July is coming up and it falls on a Wednesday this year.

Fireworks were allowed to go on sale on June 24 but sales must stop by July 7.

The City of Riverbank traditionally allows only nonprofit groups to sell fireworks as a means of fundraising and this year has issued only six permits - there were eight licenses issued last year.

The booths and their locations include: Apostolic Assembly at 2119 Patterson Road, Community Praise Tabernacle at 6331 Oakdale Road, Riverbank Youth Baseball and Softball Association at 3442 Atchison, Riverbank Assembly of God at 6344 Roselle, Riverbank High School Athletic Boosters at 2525 Patterson Road, River Oak Redskins and Central Valley Trojans at 2213 Patterson Road.

Non-profits pay $50 for a license to sell fireworks and generally make several thousand dollars at what is their main fundraiser of the year. The law forbids anybody under 18 to sell fireworks and the same age is set for purchasers of fireworks.
