A more than $7.5 million impact. That’s what Stanislaus Community Foundation made in the region during 2024.
A charitable organization, Stanislaus Community Foundation – SCF – is dedicated to stewarding charitable resources and building a more vibrant Stanislaus.
In 2024, Stanislaus Community Foundation provided 898 grants totaling just over $7.7 million in grants and scholarships to nonprofit organizations and schools. Over $351,470 in scholarships were awarded to 170 local students pursuing their dream of a higher education. Since its inception in 2002, Stanislaus Community Foundation has provided more than $57.1 million in grants and scholarships to the community.
“Our ability to invest in our community and tackle a broad range of regional challenges is enabled by the generous backing of individuals who create charitable funds with us,” said Seana Day, Chair of the Board at Stanislaus Community Foundation. “They understand that combining our charitable resources maximizes the impact of these funds for the greater good.”
In partnership with the Porges Family Foundation, SCF in 2024 launched the Porges Nonprofit Excellence Initiative – a program designed to provide capacity support to local nonprofit organizations. Offerings include a sabbatical fund for nonprofit executive directors, mid-level manager training program, succession planning support, and Finance and HR services support.
The Foundation also launched two new Resident-Led Grantmaking Funds: the Adelante Fund and the Tupo Pamoja Fund, established in partnership with the Piccinini Pesco Family Fund. The two funds are each governed by committees of local Latino and Black residents who have received training in the grantmaking process. Working closely with SCF, these resident-led committees will allocate grants to nonprofits, initiatives and programs within their respective communities.
“We announced a $500,000 multi-year grant to the Central Valley Journalism Collaborative (CVJC) to launch The Modesto FOCUS/EL ENFOQUE Modesto, a new nonprofit, nonpartisan news platform that will deliver high-quality journalism and critical information to residents in an accessible, digital format,” said Day.
SCF fundholders also invested in multiple programs and projects that improve the lives of those in the community.
Stanislaus Community Foundation is a place-based funder serving the residents of Stanislaus County. Since 2002, SCF has worked with hundreds of local, charitably focused families to invest more than $51 million in philanthropic resources in the region. For more information, visit stanislauscf.org.
