Good News, Bad News From City Rec Officials
Riverbank Fountain

The Riverbank Parks and Recreation Department has both good ... and bad … news for local residents this week.

The good news, especially for Valentine’s sweethearts, is that they’ve scheduled another of their Sip and Paint events this week, this one designed for couples, to be held on Friday, Feb. 15.

It will begin at 7 p.m. and continue, it is predicted, until 9 p.m., at the Riverbank Teen Center, 3600-A Santa Fe St., across from Cardozo Middle School in downtown.

The event poster features a picture of what patrons will be painting, a couple dancing in silhouette in front of a rising moon. It also notes the contact phone number, 209-863-7150. And those interested can register on the Parks & Rec website. The cost is $20 per couple.

Now the bad news.

The Riverbank’s Got Talent show, to be sponsored by the Recreation Department, has been canceled. It was scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Cardozo Middle School multi-purpose auditorium.

The deadline for auditioning for the competition was to be completed by Feb. 7, but officials said not enough acts signed up for the show.

There was no word on whether it would be rescheduled.
