Hazardous Waste Disposal Slated

The City of Riverbank is sponsoring a free hazardous waste (not electronic or e-waste) disposal event for items such as paint, oil and detergent and a waste tire recycling amnesty. Both will be at 3300 Atchison in the Del Rio theater building parking lot on the same weekend as Beyond Earth Day.

Hazardous waste can be disposed of there between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday and Saturday (April 8 and 9) and discarded tires on Saturday, April 9 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Waste tire disposal is for Riverbank residents only with proof of residence such as a utility bill or picture I.D. No businesses are allowed and no more than nine tires per household can be discarded. The event is for disposing of passenger car and truck tires plus small tractor and equipment tires.

For questions on waste tire recycling call 209-863-7127. That event is funded by a grant from the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery.
