Though still not open to the public due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, libraries in Stanislaus County are continuing to offer programs. Following are just a few examples of the upcoming virtual programs offered through the library branches, including the Riverbank library at 3442 Santa Fe. The online calendar of events is listed on the website, stanislauslibrary.org and includes the full schedule of programs taking place this February.

Parks and Recreation Virtual Trivia Night will be held on Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. Advance registration is required as space is limited. It’s nearly Galentine ’s Day, so treat yourself by joining the Parks and Recreation Virtual Trivia Night. They will be using Zoom and the free app Kahoot! for this program. Participants will need two devices to participate; you will need Zoom to view the questions and Kahoot! to answer them. Registration is required. If you choose to work in a team for this quiz, only one person per team needs to register and download Kahoot! Once you sign up, you will be sent the link to the Zoom meeting. Be sure to download both Zoom and Kahoot! prior to the program.

Virtual Book Chat: Science Fiction will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. to discuss science fiction books. Advance registration is required. The theme for the month of February is science fiction. This is a fun and easy way to discuss books with other book lovers. They meet on Zoom monthly to chat about what they are reading or what they have read focused around a general theme. Register to receive the Zoom link. Virtual Gardening Program: Vermicomposting with UCCE (University of California Cooperative Extension) Master Gardeners on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. The gardeners will lead a vermicomposting program via Zoom. Vermicomposting is the use of red wriggler worms to help recycle your food scraps into mulch for your garden. Advance registration is required.

Virtual Trivia Night: Avatar - The Last Airbender will be held on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Advance registration for this virtual trivia night is required, as space is limited. Do you have what it takes to be a member of Team Avatar? Test your knowledge about the four elements by joining in for Avatar: The Last Airbender Trivia Night. Again, participants will need two devices to participate, Zoom to view the questions and Kahoot! to answer them. Registration is required.

Many library branches are also still filling book needs; you can reserve a book online and then visit your local branch to pick it up. Contact the Riverbank Library at 209-869-7008 for additional information.
