Just ahead of the warmer summer season, Riverbank Council Member Stacy Call has helped organize a Life Jacket Drive.

It’s scheduled for Saturday, May 31, at Jacob Myers Park, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Call said there will be a food truck, and raffles, along with the fundraiser to be able to buy more life jackets. They will then be available to people who wish to swim in the river at the park.

One featured vendor scheduled to attend the May 31 event will be Mama G’s Smash Burgers.

Call said she was hoping they’d be able to arrange for providing a number of life-saving vests when her project is completed.

In addition to coordinating the Saturday drive, Call recently hosted a meeting with some of her constituents in the city council chambers, the session staged on Thursday, May 22. It was a “Meet With Your Council Member” opportunity Call has scheduled for the third Thursdays of the month.

This past week, other council members had similar meetings with their constituents, and Mayor Rachel Hernandez has one scheduled for Thursday, May 29 at Galaxy Theatres, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
